Acest document este disponibil deocamdată în engleză. Textul în engleză este versiunea de referință.
This policy explains what information the WalkiNova app for Android and Wear OS, and the website walkinova.app, use, why, and what choices you have. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past.
In short: you can use WalkiNova without an account. We use your location to find the best time to move and to record your sessions. We show no ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
1. Who we are
WalkiNova is developed and operated by Hakim Ben Hadj Brahim, an independent developer based in Tunisia ("WalkiNova", "we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What we collect and why
Location. With your permission, the app uses your precise location while it is open to fetch the weather and comfort forecast near you. During an activity session it records your route, including in the background while a session is running (a notification shows that tracking is on). We do not track your location when no session is running and the app is closed.
Activity sessions. For each session: start and end time, duration, distance, route points, pace and speed, estimated steps and calories, activity type, the area name, the weather at the time, any note you write, and the route image you create.
Account (optional). If you sign in with Google we receive your email address and name from Google. You can add a username, first and last name, gender, date of birth, the hours you like to be active, your fitness level and how you heard about WalkiNova. These help us suggest better times; all are optional except what Google sign-in provides.
Settings. Language, units, time format and activity hours. They are stored on your device, and your activity hours are also saved to your account if you sign in.
Notifications. To send notifications we use a push identifier for your device, your language, whether you use a guest or signed-in account, your display name if signed in, and when the app was last opened or closed. We use the last-activity time only to send an occasional reminder after a long break, which you can turn off in your phone settings.
WalkiNova Plus (optional subscription). Google Play handles the payment. We receive the status of your subscription (which plan, start, renewal or end date, trial or billing problem) and an anonymous purchase identifier, or your account identifier if you are signed in. We never see or store your card or payment details.
Support. If you email us, for example with the shake-to-report shortcut, we receive your message and your email address.
Website. walkinova.app sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and reliability.
3. Guest mode
Without an account, your sessions and settings stay on your device and are not uploaded to our database. Weather requests and the push identifier described above are still needed for the app to work. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, guest sessions are deleted and we cannot recover them.
4. Wear OS watch
The watch app talks to your phone through Google's Wear OS data layer, directly between your own devices. A session recorded on the watch is sent to the phone and handled like a phone session. The watch app shows no ads and has no separate account or purchase.
5. Service providers
We use these providers to run WalkiNova. They process data on our behalf and only for the purposes below:
- Supabase: database and sign-in for signed-in users (account, profile and session backup).
- Google: Google Sign-In, Google Play billing for WalkiNova Plus, the Android geocoder that turns coordinates into an area name, and the Wear OS data layer between your phone and watch.
- OneSignal: delivering push notifications.
- Open-Meteo: weather forecasts. The app sends approximate coordinates to get the forecast for your area.
- Mapbox: maps, and the map background of route images (the app sends the map area around a route).
- RevenueCat: checking and keeping the status of WalkiNova Plus subscriptions.
- Vercel: hosting of the website.
Some of these providers process data outside your country, for example in the European Union or the United States. Where the law requires it, transfers are covered by the provider's contractual safeguards.
7. Legal bases
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on: your consent for location and notifications (you can withdraw it at any time in your phone settings); the performance of our agreement with you to provide the app, your account and WalkiNova Plus; our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and reliable; and legal obligations, for example keeping purchase records.
8. How long we keep data
- Account, profile and backed-up sessions: until you delete them or your account.
- Sessions on your device: until you delete them or uninstall the app.
- Push notification data: until you delete your account or uninstall the app, after which it expires at the provider.
- Subscription records: as long as needed to provide WalkiNova Plus and to meet accounting and tax obligations.
- Support emails: as long as needed to answer you, then deleted.
9. Your choices and rights
You can delete any session in the app. You can delete your account and its data in the app (Profile, then Delete account) or by emailing us. You can turn off location and notifications at any time in your phone settings; the app keeps working without them, with fewer features.
You may also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to restrict or object to its use, or to move it to another service. Email bhbhakim001@gmail.com; we answer within 30 days.
If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you can complain to a data protection authority: in Tunisia the Instance Nationale de Protection des Données Personnelles (INPDP), or the authority of the country where you live.
10. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to our database is restricted to your own account. No system is perfectly secure, so we also keep the data we collect to what the app needs.
11. Children
WalkiNova is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the app changes how it uses data, and change the date at the top. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app.
